Department of civil engineering organised a workshop on ecofriendly building construction in association with ‘POLJO ‘. The workshop was about the introduction of a new plastering material into the construction industry replacing by cement. They introduced a green wall plastering technology and kool terrace cast system. This technology gives the following advantages over the conventional cement sand-based system.
• Does not use river sand or manufactured sand as aggregates, instead use recycled and processed industrial waste as silica source with no carbo foot print or ecological damage.
• Does not use conventional cement or lime as binder, as both these products produce huge amount of CO2. Instead, it uses organic polymer modified advanced geo polymerization formed by green processes as binder.
• Not require water curing for many days to attain strength like cement plaster.
The class was followed by live demo session on the plastering with this new material, the mixing, placing and finishing steps.
